Choosing and Implementing Tax Preparation Software

About Course
Choosing tax preparation software is not really a technology decision — it’s a controlled-risk decision dressed up as a shopping comparison. The system with the most features on a vendor’s demo is not necessarily the system your practice will actually run correctly under deadline pressure in April, and the sticker price on a vendor’s website is rarely the number that actually determines what the software costs your practice in a real season. This course works through the full lifecycle of a software decision: understanding what you’re actually choosing between, evaluating vendors on total cost and real fit rather than a feature checklist, implementing a switch without disrupting an active season, and knowing later when staying with a familiar system has quietly become the riskier choice. It is not a buyer’s guide ranking specific products — those change constantly — it is a decision framework you can apply to any vendor, at any point in your practice’s life.
